The AB 1791-16B0 is a 16-point DC Block I/O module. This module has 16 DC inputs and requires an input power of 24 Volts DC. The 1791-16B0 converts DC power from the input to appropriate DC power level that can be used by processor. The maximum input impedance of this I/O block is 3.4k ohms. There are several typical input devices for block I/O, those are proximity switches, limit switches, selector switches, float switches, and pushbutton switches.
1791-16B0 is compatible with various AB programmable logic controllers. Those are PLC-2, PLC-3, PLC-5/250, PLC-5, and SLC. The wiring connections for this module are easy to modify. A removable terminal strip feature is designed to replace or connect any wiring to the I/O block. You need to unscrew 2 captive screws from the terminal strip first before using it. Be aware of the technical input specifications of this I/O block. Be sure that any devices connected with this I/O block must have compatible voltage and current specifications. 1791-16B0 also has programmable controller user interface that allows you to easily navigate and control this I/O block. There is a power supply built into the module along with internal protection. The status indicator located on this module is used during troubleshooting. Switch assemblies are located behind the front cover. These switch assemblies are used for setting last state, last chassis, and I/O rack number. The block I/O offers a complete I/O interface that includes the functionality of adapter and an I/O rack.
