Valve Actuation: The other end of the rocker arm is equipped with a pad or roller that contacts the valve stem. When the rocker arm pivots in response to the camshaft's action, it pushes or pulls on the valve stem, opening or closing the valve. Lubriion: To reduce friction and wear, rocker arms are typically lubried. Many Cummins engines use an oil supply to ensure proper lubriion of the rocker arms and the valve train.

Adjustment: In some engines, including certain Cummins models, rocker arms may be adjustable. This means that they can be adjusted to ensure the proper clearance between the rocker arm and the valve stem. This is crucial for maintaining proper valve timing and minimizing valve train noise.
