In Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) system, microorganisms attach themselves to submerged moving Bio filter media, forming a biofilm, Air is transferred into the water, mixing the media and water and providing oxygen to the bacteria. The biofilm absorbs, oxidizes and reduces organic and inorganic material thus providing treatment.
Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) processes has the advantages of ease of operation, low maintenance and requires less space than traditional wastewater treatment systems.
It is applied to treatment of refractory organic wastewater and reconstruction of urban sewage treatment plants.
