Product Overview
MTP/MPO trunk cables are available in single mode and multimode configurations, typically featuring OM3/OM4 multimode cables with MTP/MPO connectors on both ends. These connectors are available in male (with guide pins) and female (without guide pins) versions, supporting fiber counts of 12, 24, 48, or 72 fibers.
Polarity Methods
ANSI/TIA 568-3.D standard defines three connectivity methods for maintaining proper polarity in multi-fiber array systems:
- Method A (Straight-through): Most commonly used approach with pin 1 to pin 1 connection using key-up to key-down MPO connectors
- Method B (Crossover): Pin 1 to pin 12 connection using key-up to key-up MPO connectors
- Method C (Flipped pairs): Pin 1 to pin 2 connection using key-up to key-down MPO connectors (no migration pathway to 40-/100-GbE)
