Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) combines two or more different wavelength optical carrier signals at the sending end through a multiplexer, transmitting them through the same optical fiber. At the receiving end, a demultiplexer separates the various wavelength optical carriers, which are then processed by optical receivers to restore the original signals.
