APC Connector Technology
APC (Angled Physical Contact) connectors minimize backreflection through a 5° to 15° angle-polish applied to end faces. These connectors feature green strain relief boots or green connector bodies for easy identification and are designated with "/APC" suffix (e.g., FC/APC, LC/APC).
Note: Angle-polished connectors must only be mated with other angle-polished connectors. Mating with non-angle polished connectors causes high insertion loss.
APC connectors typically achieve return loss greater than -65 dB when mated, compared to -55 dB for UPC connectors. When unmated, APC connectors maintain -65 dB or greater return loss versus approximately 14 dB for UPC connectors.
