This S-R6A12 is the ignition component for MWM TCG 2020 and C-A-T CG 170 units operated as combined heat and power (CHP) plants, where the engine runs for electrical output and the exhaust heat is recovered for steam, hot water or drying.
In CHP duty the engine rarely stops, so a misfire costs twice: lost electricity and lost heat. Prechamber ignition gives a stable flame kernel at lean mixtures, keeping exhaust temperature predictable for the heat recovery train and avoiding the cyclic thermal stress that comes with uneven combustion.
This 5-hole prechamber plug is used on MWM TCG 2016 / TCG 3016 and C-A-T CG 132 units in biogas and natural gas CHP plants, including containerised packages.
