(See ^JU on page 270) CHAPTER 2 9 ZPL II Basics An Example of a Basic Label This exercise is designed to guide you through the basic steps to create a common label which contains text and a bar code. Refer to Chapter 4, Introduction, for more information on how to set up your printer and how to enter ASCII text to send to your printer. Type the programming instructions (shown in bold) in the order given. An explanation of what each instruction does is in brackets [ ]. Most Zebra printers come standard with 8 bitmapped fonts and one scalable font. Additional downloadable bitmapped and scalable fonts are also available. Character size and density (how dark it appears) depends on the density of the printhead and the media used. Three different printheads are available: 6 dots/mm, 8 dots/mm and 12 dots/mm. Internal bitmapped fonts can be magnified from 2 to 10 times their normal (default) size. The magnification factor is in whole numbers. Therefore, if the normal size of a bit mapped font is 9 dots high and 5 dots wide, a magnification factor of 3 would produce a character of 27 dots high and 15 dots wide. Height and width can be magnified independently
