Product Description
X6CrNiNb18-10 Stainless Steel 1.4550 EN1092 Flange

1.4550 steel is an austenitic stainless steel grade, better known under the AISI/EN designation X6CrNiNb18-10. This grade is very similar to 1.4301/AISI 304, but is stabilized with niobium for enhanced performance characteristics.

Chemical Composition
Element Content (Weight %)
Carbon (C) ≤ 0.08%
Silicon (Si) ≤ 1.0%
Manganese (Mn) ≤ 2.0%
Phosphorus (P) ≤ 0.045%
Sulfur (S) ≤ 0.015%
Chromium (Cr) 17.0 – 19.0%
Nickel (Ni) 9.0 – 12.0%
Niobium (Nb) Stabilized with Nb; typically 0.2 – 1.0%
(Nb ≥ 10 × C, up to ~1%)
Nitrogen (N) ≤ 0.10%
Iron (Fe) Balance (remainder)
Key Characteristics
  • Austenitic stainless steel with excellent corrosion resistance, comparable to 304 grade
  • Niobium-stabilized to prevent chromium carbide precipitation at grain boundaries
  • Enhanced resistance to intergranular corrosion, particularly after welding or exposure to sensitization temperatures (450–850 °C)
Typical Applications
  • Chemical and petrochemical industry components
  • Pipeline systems and pressure vessels
  • Welded structures requiring superior corrosion resistance and weldability
Note: Minor variations in chemical composition limits may occur depending on the specific standard (e.g., EN 10088) or material certificate. Always verify exact specifications against the relevant datasheet or mill test certificate for your application requirements.
