On all Vogele crawler pavers, the power unit is friction-locked to the drive sprocket. The drive sprocket meshes with the track chain, which transfers the drive torque of the corresponding hydraulic motor to the chain via the gearbox, causing the crawler unit to turn and thus move.

The drive sprocket is manufactured to OEM specifications to better match the machine, undergoes an initial forming and forging process, and then undergoes specialized heat treatment to enhance its performance. Sufficient carbon content is essential to prevent brittleness during hardening.
