Nickel Release Abrasion Tester designed for EN12472:2005 test method for determining nickel release from coated coatings through simulation of wear and corrosion test methods. Compliant with both EN12472:2005 and ISO 12870:2004 standards for ophthalmic optics and spectacle frames requirements.

The European Union formally adopted the latest version of nickel release testing standard (EN12472:2005) in 2006, replacing the previous EN12472:1998 standard. All metal products including ornaments, eyeglasses, and watches must pass this test to be sold in European markets.

The nickel release tester, also known as rotating wear meter, is specialized equipment used to polish surface coatings on metals to simulate two years of wear conditions.
