01 What is plasma?
Pure plasma is a novel energy source for clinical use in surgery. The use of pure plasma energy in surgery was pioneered by Dr. Nikolay Suslov, Plasma Surgical’s Chief Technology Officer and a global leader in plasma physics. The clinical application is the result of plasma physics principles. Pure plasma technology provides foundation of the PlasmaJet Surgery System.
02 Plasma basics
RF energy flows between the active electrode and the return electrode, creating a highly concentrated plasma vapor sheath around the electrodes through the saline solution. The plasma sheath is composed of a large number of charged particles. After the charged particles are accelerated by the electric field, they generate enough kinetic energy to open the molecular bonds that constitute the target tissue cells at low temperature (40℃-70℃), so that the tissue can be rapidly decomposed into low molecular weight Molecules and atoms, thereby achieving the effect of real-time and efficient tissue cutting and ablation at a relatively low temperatures.
