The fundamental concept behind a permanent magnet generator lies in the rotor, which is equipped with permanent magnet materials that create a steady magnetic field. This magnetic field remains constant due to the inherent properties of the permanent magnets used in the rotor construction.

When an external power source, such as a wind turbine, water turbine, or an engine, drives the rotor to spin, the magnetic field produced by the rotor moves relative to the stator windings. As the rotor turns, this magnetic field continuously intersects the conductors within the stator.

Based on the laws of electromagnetic induction, the movement of the magnetic field through the stator windings induces an electromotive force (EMF) in these windings. When an external electrical circuit is connected to the generator, this EMF causes an electric current to flow, allowing the generator to deliver electrical power.
