Galvanized steel wire Messenger wire 3/8inch (7/3.05mm) high strength grade ASTM A475 features
Galvanized steel is steel with a zinc coating. This zinc coating acts as a protective barrier and prevents corrosion & rust.
Stranding process requirements
1. The steel wires in the steel strand (including the center steel wire) should be of the same diameter, the same strength, and the same zinc layer level.
2. The diameter and lay length of the steel strand should be uniform and not loose after cutting.
3. The steel wires in the steel strand should be tightly twisted and should not be staggered, broken or bent.
4. The steel strand should be straight, soft, with small residual stress and should not be deformed after expansion.
5. No joints are allowed in 1x3 structural steel strands and overhead ground wires. The steel wire joints in other types of steel strands should be welded butt joints. The distance between any two joints should not be less than 50m and the joints should be treated with anti-corrosion treatment.
Surface Quality
1. The surface of the steel wires in the steel strand should not have defects such as overlapping marks, scratches, breaks, flattening and hard bends.
2. The surface of the steel strand must be free of oil, dirt, water and other impurities.
3. The galvanized layer on the surface of the split steel wires in the steel strand should be uniform and continuous, without cracks or peeling. However, a small amount of flash points, white thin layer and color difference are allowed on the surface of the zinc layer.
