Description of Railway Axle Box:
The axle box/housing is subjected to loads and components of the shaft oil for containment of journal and other parts. Early manufacture with cast iron, now generally made of cast steel. The axle housing not only transfers the load from the frame to the journal, but also overlies the load from the bottom when it is replaced by the jack, and therefore has sufficient strength. The axle housing coaxial box cover must be tightly fitted to avoid oil spills and prevent rain and dust from entering. The axle box has two kinds of guide box and no frame type. The bearing is rubbed against the journal and the entire load carried by the axle box is transferred to the journal part, consisting of the tile body and its surface layer of friction reducing alloy. Early tile body with copper alloy casting, later switch to steel back.
