They are an economical alternative to the filter bags used in filter housings, or designed for house working.

Filter bags with strings are sewn, the stitchings can be reinforced for fragile filter fabrics.Theses filter bags are mainly made of monofilament filter meshes because these soft fabrics make tightening easier. They can also be made in other materials such as felt (needlefelt).
