A titanium exhaust flange is a device that can be used to connect an exhaust pipe to an exhaust manifold or another section of exhaust pipe. In today's exhaust systems, ball sockets are used and there is no need to use gaskets because the flange is already screwed to the prefabricated exhaust pipe to create a leak-proof seal. Grade 2 titanium slip flanges can be used up to 800°F continuously, and in intermittent use, grade 2 titanium flanges can be used up to 1000°F.

In addition to marine engineering, typical applications for secondary titanium lap flanges include oil and gas, reaction and pressure vessels, heat exchangers, liners, flue gas desulfurization systems, and other industrial equipment.

Titanium grade 2 flanges are referred to as commercially pure titanium or unalloyed titanium grades. Due to its strong weldability, titanium grade 2 flanges are often used in applications that require welding. Titanium Gr 5 flanges are lightweight but stronger than several stainless grades, known as Ti 6Al-4V. Grade 5 titanium is considered an alpha-beta alloy and is used in industries such as oil fields. In addition to being lightweight, both grades of titanium (i.e. Grades 2 and 5) offer high strength, stiffness, low density, toughness, and good corrosion resistance, even in very low to high temperature environments.
