Heat Treatment
TC4 heat treatment system
1) Annealing
Plate: 700-850℃, 0.5-2h, air cooling; bar and forging: 700-800℃, 1-2h, air cooling.
2) Vacuum annealing
700-800°C, 0.5-2h, the furnace is cooled to below 200°C and allowed to come out of the furnace and air-cooled. The absolute pressure in the furnace should not be greater than 0.09Pa.
3) Solution treatment
910-940°C, 0.5-2h, water quenching.
4) Aging
520-550°C, 2-4h, air cooling.
5) Stress relief annealing
Complete stress relief annealing: 600-650°C, 1-4h, air cooling; incomplete stress relief annealing: 500-600°C, 0.5-3h, air cooling. Stress relief annealing can be performed in an air or vacuum furnace.
TC4 Melting and Casting Process
The ingot should be smelted in a vacuum consumable electrode electric arc furnace for more than two times. The materials used for engine rotor parts should be smelted three times. Alloying element V is added in the form of A1-V master alloy. The welding of consumable electrodes is strictly forbidden to use tungsten argon arc welding, and the method of argon shielded plasma welding is adopted.
The mechanical properties of TC4 alloy are closely related to the quantity and shape of the primary α phase. Generally speaking, the more the primary α phase content, the better the tensile plasticity and fatigue properties at room temperature; the smaller the primary α phase, the higher the high temperature durability, creep and The better the fracture toughness. In order to obtain excellent comprehensive performance, the content of primary α phase is generally expected to be controlled within the range of 15%-50%. If the primary α-phase content exceeds this range, it is allowed to add a high-temperature solution treatment before normal annealing, that is, hold at 30-60°C below the β-transition temperature for 1 hour, followed by air cooling or water cooling. When the primary α-phase content is too small, the primary α-phase content can only be increased by re-thermal deformation in the two-phase region.
