R04200 Tantalum Niobium Alloy Sheet B393-05 Niobium Strip Used Aviation
High-Purity Niobium Alloy Sheet/Strip/Strip For Industrial Aviation
Niobium, also known as columbium, is mainly used as a microalloying element, in specialty steel. Because of its refractory nature, significant amounts are used in the form of high-purity ferrocolumbium. Nickel-niobium is used in cobalt-, iron-, and nickel-base superalloys for heat resisting and combustion equipment, jet engine components, and rocket subassemblies. In superalloys, niobium strengthens the alloy at high service temperatures as in aircraft components.
The most common commercial niobium alloys are ferroniobium and nickel-niobium, produced by thermite reduction of appropriate mixtures of the oxides; these are not usable as engineering materials, but are used as convenient sources of niobium for specialist steels and nickel-based superalloys.

Niobium is used for the production of high-temperature-resistant alloys and special stainless steels. Small amounts of niobium impart greater strenght to other metals, especially those that are exposed to low temperatures. Niobium carbide is used in cutting tools. It is used in stainless steel alloys for nuclear reactors, jets, missiles, cutting tools, pipelines, super magnets and welding rods.
