WHAT IS OM3 Fiber Optic Patch Cable?
OM3 Fiber. OM3 fiber comes with an aqua color jacket. Like the OM2, its core size is 50 µm, but the cable is optimized for laser based equipment. OM3 supports 10 Gigabit Ethernet at lengths up to 300 meters.
Can you splice OM3 to OM4?
OM3 is fully compatible with OM4. So the difference is just in the construction of the fibre cable. The difference in the construction means that OM4 cable has better attenuation and can operate at higher bandwidth than OM3.
