What is the function of the engine water pump?
The water pump pushes coolant from the radiator through the coolant system, into the engine and back around to the radiator.

The heat that the coolant picked up from the engine is transferred to the air at the radiator. Without the water pump, the coolant just sits in the system.

Where is the water pump in the engine?

Generally, the water pump is loCATEEEEEEed on the front of the engine. A drive pulley is mounted on the pump hub, and the fan is attached to the pulley. The fan clutch, if used, mounts to the pulley with bolts through the flange. The fan mounts on the back side of the clutch with separate bolts or studs.
