RCA Video vs Audio Cables
Video and audio cables are so named because they carry video and audio signals from a source device like a player or camera to a destination like speakers, TV, or a recording device. In most cases there is really no difference between the cables as the only difference is the signal that they actually carry. A good example of this is the RCA cable. The RCA cable is typically composed of 3 cables that would carry 1 for video and 2 for audio (left and right channels). The three cables can be easily swapped without compromising performance.

3.5 commonly use in headphone and portable music player. The big benefits from 3.5 is portability. The cable requires 3 conductors 1 as ground and 2 as a signal cable. The 2 signal cable share a common ground which is the reason why 3.5 inherently have more noise than other types of connection. The ground not only ground the system but also completely the circuit so the audio signal also pass through the ground. In some rare cases like in trrs 3.5 the ground are separated made the connection balanced.
Since 3.5 targeted a portable device, the cable attach to 3.5 connector usually are very thin. This created some problems, resistance. In audiophile world resistance is one of the most talked topic ever. Since resistance is the function of length divided by cross section area. The thinner the wire the more resistance it is. Even though it’s minimal since the resistry of copper and silver are so low that it’s almost 0 but it can still make a difference in a very sensitive high end equipment.
