Gr2 Gr5 Titanium Hemispherical Dish Head B337

Titanium dish shaped and hemispherical heads are formed end closures used on pressure vessels, reactors and heat exchangers in chemical processing, petrochemical plants and general industry. They are made in Grade 2 and Grade 5, so the same head shape is available either in a formable, weldable commercially pure grade or in a high strength Ti-6Al-4V grade. Wall thickness runs from 0.2 mm to 30 mm and the heads are supplied to ASTM B337.

Forming and Quality Control

Gr2 titanium resists most acids, chlorides and salt water, so a Gr2 head keeps its surface in chemical tanks, storage vessels and marine equipment where a steel head would corrode. Gr5, also known as Ti-6Al-4V, adds strength, temperature resistance and fatigue resistance, which suits heads that carry higher stress. Each head is checked by hydrostatic and pneumatic testing, and third party testing can be arranged when the project requires it.
