Gr2 Titanium Weld Neck Flange WNRF ANSI B16.5

A weld neck flange has a tapered neck and is butt welded to the pipe, so the joint is stronger and less likely to deform than a flat welded joint. The two necks of a weld neck flange face each other and the connecting ends are welded to the equipment nozzle or the pipe end. Because the neck reinforces the hub and moves stress away from the flange face, a titanium weld neck flange is normally chosen for lines and equipment that work at higher pressure or over a wide temperature range. Our WN flanges are forged from Gr2 titanium and machined with a raised face to ANSI B16.5, which keeps the joint face clear of weld heat deformation.

Applications and Service

Weld neck flanges are commonly used on lines and equipment that run above 2.0 MPa (Class 150 / PN20), on pipelines with fluctuating or high temperature, and on lines that carry costly, flammable or hard to seal media. Typical uses include boiler and pressure vessel nozzles, petroleum and chemical processing piping, shipbuilding, metallurgy, food processing and general high pressure pipe connections. Because titanium resists chlorides and sea water, these flanges are also a good fit for desalination, marine and chemical plant service. Sizes, pressure class, sealing face and neck dimensions can be supplied to the drawing or to the required standard.
