Operation Guide
Setup Procedure
- Place plastic shim matching coating thickness on test block
- Position probe over defect-free area and press balance button
- Rotate probe with finger grip parallel to notch
- Scan over test block notch and adjust sensitivity as required
Inspection Methods
Plate and Pipe: Scan area in zigzag pattern, repeat at 90-degree angles
Welds - HAZ: Position probe in Heat Affected Zone adjacent to weld, scan lengthwise, move 1/8" (3mm) increments until 1/2" (12.5mm) coverage achieved on both sides
Weld Crown: Scan crown in zigzag pattern; use plastic sheet or tape over bare, rough welds
Technology Overview
The probe incorporates both transmitter and receiver components. The transmitter generates a stable AC magnetic field within the test material, which becomes disrupted when encountering cracks. The receiver utilizes proprietary semiconductor magneto-sensitive technology to detect and measure the resulting magnetic flux leakage, providing accurate crack presence and severity assessment.
