Drop Preventing Net Description

Dropped objects are a major source of incidents in heavy industries. In the drilling industry offshore dropped objects are listed in the top ten of most frequent incidents. By securing overhead fixtures using secondary locking devices and additional securing techniques incidents are prevented and risk for personnel is reduced significantly.

Dropped objects are prevented using secondary retention nets. These specifically designed safety nets secure, enclose and tether overhead fixtures with the purpose to prevent a fixed item from falling when its primary attachment fails. The nets are designed for onshore and offshore installations.

The nets can for example enclose and tether overhead fixtures, such as; lights, beacons, speakers, self-retracting lifelines, CCT’s, anodes, pipe clamps and other items that are located above personnel and critical equipment.

The nets fully encloses the item being secured, while the integrated securing cable attaches around a structural attachment point, preventing both the item and fixture components from dropping or falling.

Drop safe nets are made out of high grade stainless steel. Grade stainless steel Aisi316 is the preferred steel for use in marine environments because of its greater resistance to pitting corrosion than other grades of steel. A carabiner hook will make it easy to attach the unit to a secondary retention point.
