It is manufactured to ISO 2342, which defines the dimensions for slotted headless screws with shank. Key features are its full thread, headless design, flat point (Type F as per some standards), and single slotted drive. The standard covers metric threads from approximately M1.6 up to M24.

Typically made from austenitic stainless steel such as Grade A2 (AISI 304) or A4 (AISI 316). Mechanical properties are specified by grades like A2-70 or A4-70, where "70" indicates a minimum tensile strength of 700 MPa. These grades ensure corrosion resistance and sufficient mechanical strength for clamping duties.
