Thus it is always suggested to use the clutch cautiously for its long life and efficient power transmission.It is a vacuum assist for the clutch much like the vacuum assist for power brakes. So when you step on the clutch a valve is opened that allows engine vacuum to evacuate a chamber and move a diaphragm in the same direction you are pushing the clutch pedal to assist you. This would be used mostly on large trucks that are pulling heavy loads, since the clutch would be harder to depress and due to the weight of the vehicle there would be a lot more changing of gears than on a smaller personal vehicle.
