Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries are the safest lithium battery type. They will not overheat and will not catch fire even if punctured. The cathode material is non-hazardous and environmentally safe.
Typical life expectancy: 5-15 years or 2000 to 8000 charge cycles (one cycle = fully charged to fully discharged and recharged).
For solar charging, always use LiFePO4/Lithium Ion solar controllers. Lead Acid controllers may damage the PCB over time due to constant pulse currents.
