The Introduction
In general terms the Sieve Bend Screen is used where there is a high proportion of water with the solids. It is therefore suitable, for example, as part of the process to remove contaminants from sand or to carry out a dewatering function in advance of a slurry centrifuge when dewatering coal fines.
The material that passes through the screen surface is approximately half the size of the slot aperture.
The shape of the particle, the volume of undersize and the amount of near size material in the feed determines the separation size as well as the volume that passes through the screen.
A Sieve Bend benefits over a flat sieve screen as the curved panels induce centrifugal forces that force the slurry onto the screen surface.
