• Easy to assemble, maintain and disassemble
• Allow a certain amount of moisture (if required)
• Allows or compensates for end float/axial motion/thermal expansion
• Keep the connection between the hub and shaft rigid
• Withstand/compensate for temperature fluctuation/heat increase
• Prevent overload of the drive machine
• Low inertia has the least impact on the driving system
• Provide good lubricant retention capacity if necessary
