Replace Atlas Copco 1613800700 Screw Compressor Air Oil Separator
When excessive oil is fogged by compressor discharge, it may damage pneumatic tools and accessories. To make matters worse, oil emissions can adversely affect applications, sometimes even causing projects to be scrapped and completely reworked.
Fortunately, this problem is often easy to identify and remedy, as oily emissions often boil down to one of the following:
- Limiting air intake - Oil emissions are usually caused by limiting the air intake of a compressor. In this case, the air filter will either need to be cleaned or replaced.
- Piston ring expiration - As with oil spills, oil spills can result from worn piston rings that need to be replaced regularly.
- Fill up the tank - If the compressor has too much oil, some of the excess oil may seep into the effluent. The oil level needs to fall to the "full" mark shown on the chart.
- Wrong oil viscosity - If the viscosity does not meet your compressor's requirements, empty the tank and refill with a different oil of the appropriate viscosity.
- Upside-down piston rings - Another possible cause of oil discharge is upside-down piston rings, which may mean it is time to replace the crankshaft.
If you use compressed air for painting, sanding, or surface treatment, proper air treatment is necessary because you cannot let the atomized oil into the air stream. Through preventive maintenance, you will significantly reduce the risk of disruption to the project due to interference with the paint job and the oil particles in the paint finish.
