Warnings and Cautions - Temperature
WARNING To ensure patient safety and accurate and reliable temperature results, please read this section carefully before using the thermometer.
WARNING Always place the disposable probe tip over the probe tip before taking a temperature measurement. Failure to use the probe end caps can lead to discomfort, patient cross-contamination, and false temperature readings.
WARNING Use only Welch Allyn disposable probe covers. Use of other probe covers may cause patient cross-contamination and false temperature readings.
WARNING Do not reuse the probe cover.
WARNING Using the probe in the wrong position can result in inaccurate measurements and patient injury.
• Use only the oral probe (identified by the blue ejector button on top of the probe) to take oral and axillary temperatures.
• Use only the rectal probe (identified by the red ejection button on top of the probe) to take a rectal temperature.
WARNING Use the oral probe only with oral probes and the rectal probe only with rectal probes. Using an incorrect probe port can lead to cross infection between patients.
WARNING Always ensure that the probe cover is in direct contact with the skin. Do not measure axillary temperature through the patient's clothing.
WARNING Be very careful when taking a rectal temperature in children. To avoid the risk of intestinal perforation, insert the tip of the tube only 3/8 inch (about 1 cm).
WARNING The housing of the thermometer is not waterproof. Do not immerse it in liquid or drop liquid on it.
WARNING This thermometer is made of high quality precision parts. Protect it from strong shocks or vibrations. Do not use the thermometer if the
probe or instrument show signs of damage. If the thermometer probe falls out or becomes damaged, remove it from service and have it checked
by a qualified service technician.
WARNING Do not use the thermometer for purposes other than those described in this document. This will void the product warranty.
