M-COPSv GE Datex Ohmeda Module with C.O. SvO2 P4

M-COPSv GE Datex Ohmeda Module With C.O. SvO2 P4 For S/5 Patient Monitor

Module M-COPSv provide

• Cardiac output (C.O.)

• Right ventricular ejection fraction (REF)

• Invasive blood pressure (InvBP) measurement

Additionally, the COPSv module provides venous oxygen saturation (SvO2) measurement.

NOTE: Do not use identical modules in the same monitor simultaneously. These modules are considered as identical and would cause communication errors if used in the same system.

SvO2 measurement

The COPSv module measures SvO2 when used in conjunction with the Baxter-Edwards OM-2E optical module and Swan-Ganz oximetry catheter. To measure SvO2, the system uses spectrophotometric technology, which involves the use of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) producing red (660 nm) and infrared (810 nm) light. Light is transmitted into the blood by a single plastic optical fiber in the oximetry catheter and reflected back to the photodetector in the optical module via a separate optical fiber. The light is electrically transmitted to the COPSv module and analyzed to determine SvO2. The oximetric part of the system measures SvO2 in the pulmonary arteries by detecting color changes in red blood cells. When pulses of red and infrared light are transmitted through the oximetry catheter, the light reflects off the red blood cells and is transmitted through the catheter to the optical module. The amount of light reflected at each wavelength depends primarily on the color of the blood and the number of red blood cells. Since the number of red blood cells in the blood affects the amount of reflected light, the difference is compensated for when entering the patient's total hemoglobin value. The optical module stores and transmits SvO2 calibration data. SvO2 values can be affected by methemoglobin or carboxyhemoglobin, which mimic the absorptive properties of HbO2. Elevated concentrations of methemoglobin or carboxyhemoglobin can cause a falsely elevated SvO2. SvO2 should be interpreted with caution if hemoglobin dysfunction is suspected.

Invasive blood pressure measurement

For invasive blood pressure measurement, a catheter is inserted into an artery or vein. The invasive pressure device consists of a connecting tube, a pressure sensor, and an intravenous saline bag, all of which are connected by a tap and connected to a catheter. The pressure sensor was placed at the same level as the heart and electrically zeroed. A pressure sensor is a piezoresistive device that converts a pressure signal into a voltage. The monitor interprets the blood pressure signal and displays blood pressure readings and blood pressure waveforms.
