Lithium Ion Batteries

Lithium ion battery packs offer quick charging (100% in less than 3.5 hours), light weight and compact size. In addition to the general recommendations, the following guidelines contained in the User Instructions should be followed:

Operational Use

• Operating temperature: -5°C (23°F) to 54°C (129°F). Do not expose the battery to temperatures above 54°C (129°F). At extreme temperatures, operating time is reduced. The battery will turn off at temperatures above 60°C (140°F).

• Charging temperature: 0°C (32°F) to 40°C (104°F) (internal battery temperature). Do not charge outside this area. The optimal charging temperature for the internal battery is between 20°C and 25°C. Repeated charging outside the optimal temperature range will shorten battery life and reduce battery life.

• If the battery is hot, allow it to cool for 0.5 hours before charging. If the charger detects that the battery is too hot, it goes into sleep mode until the battery has cooled down.

• 3M lithium-ion battery offers up to 250 charge cycles. At extreme ambient temperatures, the life of a fully charged battery is shortened due to natural battery aging.

• If the battery charge indicator shows less than 80% capacity, the battery needs to be replaced.

• Before shipping a lithium-ion battery, check all applicable local, national, and international regulations.

• Storage temperature: -22°F (-30°C) to 122°F (50°C); Optimal temperature: 59°F (15°C). Drying conditions RH <85%.

• The battery may remain connected to the charger for a long time. However, to maximize battery life during extended storage, 3M recommends storing the battery at approximately 40% charge (indicated by the battery charge indicator) when removed from the charger. The battery must be disconnected from the motor/fan during storage.

About the battery

• Economy batteries provide a minimum of 4.5 to 6 hours of continuous operation, while high-capacity batteries provide a minimum of 9 to 12 hours of continuous operation (in both cases, use a new filter and a new, fully charged battery). Standard battery charging time is less than 3 hours (high-capacity battery charging time is less than 3.5 hours).

• Lightweight lithium-ion battery charges quickly and has no memory effect or heavy metals. It can be easily removed for charging.

• Smart chargers help maintain optimal battery performance and are available in single or quad battery charging stations.
