OxyTrace Sensor range includes three sensors for different applications: OxyTrace A for use with Zeus, OxyTrace VE for use with the Savina

series and OxyTrace Incu for use with Caleo. The sensor is manufactured with minimal components and comes in an 'XS' format with a diameter

of 20 mm and a height of 34 mm. The OxyTrace sensor has a service life of more than 30 months and has proven its technical stability since its

first introduction to the market in 1999.

Design and operation

The OxyTrace sensor is a non-depletable electrochemical oxygen sensor that operates on the principle of an oxygen pump. The electrolytes

include measuring electrodes, reference electrodes and counter electrodes. These sensors operate electronically with a potentiostatic switch and

oxygen is reduced at the measuring electrode:

O2 + 4H+ +4e- → 2H2O

At the same time, water is electrolyzed at the counter electrode:

2H2O → O2 + 4H+ +4e

In general, oxygen reaching the measuring side of the sensor returns to the counter electrode side without replacing the sensor. Depending on

the gas flow, a current proportional to the O2 concentration of the monitored gas is generated.
