The Leica RM2135 rotary microtome is used to cut very thin specimen cross sections (typically 4 µm) for routine and research histological studies in the biological and medical fields. The instrument is designed for cutting soft and hard paraffin-embedded specimens, as long as they are suitable for manual cutting. The section thickness setting can range from 1 µm to 60 µm. High-quality paraffin sections can be used for a variety of stainings, such as H&E, IHC, IF and ISH.

This advanced instrument features a patented gravity compensation system that ensures uniform, high-quality sections without bulky counterweights. Its easy-to-operate coarse feed wheel simplifies operation, while precision crossed-roller bearings ensure superior section quality for both paraffin and hard sectioning techniques. The intuitive specimen positioning system features anti-tilt functionality and a 70 mm vertical travel length to accommodate large specimens. A quick-release clamping system simplifies specimen changes, and an integrated section waste tray increases workflow efficiency.

The microtome uses zero-play and maintenance-free crossed roller bearings for horizontal and vertical specimen feed. This ensures exact reproducibility of section thickness and optimum section quality. Coarse feed is manually operated by turning the coarse feed wheel. Sectioning is performed by turning the extremely smooth handwheel.
