Residual vapors of flammable disinfectants

Residual vapors of flammable disinfectants (e.g. alcohol) or deposits that have not been removed during reprocessing may ignite when the flow sensor is in use.

1.Ensure that no particles remain during the cleaning and disinfection process.

2.After disinfection, allow the flow sensor to air dry for at least 30 minutes.

3.Check the flow sensor for visible damage or dirt, such as residual mucus, drug aerosols, or particles, before insertion.
4.Replace the flow sensor if it is damaged, dirty, or has particles on it. Improper handling or contamination of the neonatal flow sensor (e.g. with sediments or particles) can damage the flow sensor. This can lead to unsuccessful flow measurements and pose a risk to the patient.
5.The sensor insert must not be mechanically cleaned or sterilized. Plasma or radiation sterilization is prohibited. When cleaning the sensor insert, do not use instruments such as water jets, compressed air or brushes. Ultrasonic cleaners should also not be used.
