Main Functions of the Motherboard
  • Preamplifier and Lead Selector: This is the first stage of signal processing. Typically, a powerful power frequency notch filter is also included to specifically filter out 50/60Hz power supply interference.
    • Amplification: The main amplifier amplifies the signal to a level suitable for processing by the analog-to-digital converter (ADC).
  • Analog-to-Digital Converter: Converting the conditioned, clean analog ECG signal into a digital signal for subsequent digital processing and analysis by the microprocessor. This is a crucial step in the transition of signals from the "physical world" to the "digital world."
  • Processor and Digital Signal Processor: This is the "brain" of the motherboard. It is responsible for executing digital filtering algorithms to further optimize the waveform and running ECG analysis programs to perform automatic measurements (such as heart rate and intervals) and arrhythmia analysis.
