Expiratory cassette structure:

1. Expiratory inlet: Equipped with 22 mm/10 mm dual-size fittings for connecting to the patient's expiratory tubing. The inlet design allows condensation to drip out naturally and allows for water collection using a collection cup.

2. Moisture trap: Built into the expiratory inlet to collect condensed moisture from the exhaled gas.

3. PC 1786 Expiratory channel cassette: This is a connection circuit board integrated within the expiratory cartridge, responsible for the control and signal transmission of the ultrasonic flowmeter and heating membrane.

4. Ultrasonic flowmeter: Used for non-invasive measurement of expiratory gas flow rate.

5. Heating foil: Located on the outer wall of the expiratory tubing where the ultrasonic flowmeter is located. By applying electrical heating to the outside of the expiratory tubing, it reduces condensation of the exhaled gas and maintains stable expiratory gas temperature.

6. Expiratory pressure sensor connection port: Equipped with a bacterial filter for connecting the expiratory pressure sensor.

7. Expiratory valve: Contains a valve membrane and is electromagnetically controlled by the Expiratory valve coil, located below the expiratory chamber compartment, to regulate the patient's system pressure.

8.Expiratory one-way valve: Prevents backflow of gas, ensuring the unidirectional nature of the expiratory pathway.

►Operation and Maintenance

1. Disassembly Procedure

The procedure for removing the expiratory cartridge from the ventilator is as follows: Lift the locking handle and pull out the patient unit. Press the button on the expiratory cartridge, tilt it upwards, and then pull it out. When removing it from the ventilator, first press the rear locking arm to tilt the user interface, then press the button on the expiratory cartridge to disassemble.

2. Cleaning and Disinfection

Cleaning and maintaining the expiratory cartridge is crucial for ensuring the safe operation of the ventilator. It is important to emphasize that the expiratory cartridge does not require sterilization before use—as it is not an invasive device, normal cleaning is sufficient. The expiratory cartridge is a precision instrument and must be handled with care.

3. Valve Membrane Maintenance

As a single unit, all components of the expiratory cartridge, except the valve membrane, must not be disassembled or replaced by the user. The estimated operating capacity of the valve membrane is 10,000,000 respiratory cycles. It must be replaced if this limit is exceeded or if damage occurs. The remaining operating capacity of the valve membrane can be viewed in the ventilator's menu. The operating capacity meter must be reset after replacing the valve membrane. When installing the valve diaphragm, ensure that both the diaphragm and valve seat are clean and free of contaminants; otherwise, leakage may occur.

Warning

As a complete unit, the exhalation box's main components, such as the PC 1786 and ultrasonic flow meter, must not be disassembled. Any maintenance operations beyond the scope of valve diaphragm replacement should be performed by trained and authorized personnel. Furthermore, MAQUET recommends timely replacement of the exhalation box if it malfunctions or its performance deteriorates to ensure the normal operation of the ventilator and patient safety.
