Q1: The knob is stuck and rotates erratically; is the encoder broken?

A1: It's most likely due to worn or dusty contacts inside the encoder, causing unstable signal output. Replacing the encoder will solve the problem; you don't need to replace the entire panel.

Q2: It only rotates in one direction; the other doesn't respond. What's the problem?

A2: This indicates a faulty single-channel signal line inside the encoder, causing it to only recognize rotation signals in one direction. Replacing the encoder is necessary to restore bidirectional operation.

Q3: The encoder and knob cap are loose; is the shaft broken?

A3: Not necessarily. The encoder and knob cap can be disassembled. If only the knob cap and shaft are slipping, you can replace the knob cap. If the shaft itself is wobbling or spinning freely, then the encoder's internal structure is worn, and the encoder needs to be replaced.
