The SpO2 board of the Comen STAR8000C patient monitor is a core functional module of the monitor. Connected to the main board via a ribbon cable, it facilitates quick troubleshooting and replacement. It is primarily used for continuous, non-invasive monitoring of the patient's arterial oxygen saturation and pulse rate, displaying real-time pulse oximetry waveforms with smooth, low-noise waveforms, suitable for simple assessment of peripheral circulation status. Simultaneously, it can trigger audible and visual alarms via the main board when oxygen levels are too low or pulse rates are abnormal.

Functions:

1. Utilizing photoelectric sensing principles, it accurately calculates two key parameters:

- Blood oxygen saturation: Reflects the proportion of oxyhemoglobin in the blood.

- Pulse rate: Calculates the number of heartbeats per minute by detecting arterial pulsation; it can replace or cross-validate pulse rate values from ECG monitoring.

2. Provides intuitive monitoring and feedback:

- Display waveforms and values: Real-time display of blood oxygen plethysmography waveforms and pulse rate histograms.

- Trigger clinical alarms: When blood oxygen levels or pulse rate exceed the set safety range, the monitor immediately triggers an audible and visual alarm, helping medical staff respond quickly.

- Record trend data: Continuously records data, generating trend graphs for easy review of changes in blood oxygen and pulse rate over a period of time, assessing disease progression and treatment effectiveness.
