► Brief Introduction

ECG monitoring describes continuous waveforms of cardiac activities of patients so as to accurately assess the current psychological status of the patients. Thus proper connection of ECG cables must be ensured in order to obtain correct measurement values.

► Preparation

Take the preparation of the patient's skin before installing the electrodes:

1. Make sure good contact between electrodes and skin, because skin is bad conductor,it is very important to prepare the patient's skin well.
2. Remove the hair of the body surrounding the pole positions if necessary.
3. Clean the skin thoroughly with soap and water (do not use ethyl ethyl or pure alcohol, because they will increase skin resistance)
4. Wipe the skin well to increase capillary blood flow and remove skin scraps and oils.
5. Install the spring or snap clamp before installing the electrodes
6. Place electrodes on the patient's body. If the electrodes do not contain a conductive paste, cover the conductive dough before installation.
7. Confirm the power supply

► Install ECG leads
The following table lists the lead names under the European and US standards (leads are represented in R, L, N, F and C under the European standard and in RA, LA, RL, LL, and V under the US standard)

► 5-lead ECG electrodes position

.

1. RA: Under the clavicle, near by R-shoulder.
2. LA: Under the clavicle, near by L-shoulder.
3. RL: On the R-lower quadrant.
4. LL: On the L-lower quadrant.
5. V: On the clest, the electrodes must be put at optional of the position.

Attention

For patient safety, all the leads must be connected with patient body.

For 5-lead device, put the breast (V) electrode at one of the following positions:

• V1, around the 4th frame at right side to the breast bone
• V2, around the 4th frame at left side to the breast bone
• V3, between V2 and V4
• V4, around the 5th frame along middle line of the left clavicle
• V5, at front line of the left axilla, at the same horizontal position of V4
• V6, at middle line of the left axilla, at the same horizontal position of V4
• V3R-V7R, at right side of the breast, identical to those positions at left side
• VE, at apoPHiliphhilipysis of the xiPHiliphhilipoid process; in case V leads are put on the back, the electrodes must be put at one of the following position:
• V7, around the 5th frame at back line of the left axilla on the back
• V7R, around the 5th frame at back line of the right axilla on the back
