What is type 201 stainless steel?
Type 201 is an austenitic chromium-nickel-manganese stainless steel that was developed in the 1950's due to worldwide nickel shortages. In the Type 201 composition, manganese and nitrogen are partially substituted for nickel.
What is the difference between 201 and 304 stainless steel?
201 stainless steel is a substitute for 304 steel. And 304 stainless steel contains 18% chromium and 9% nickel in standard. In comparison, the content of nickel and chromium in 304 is higher than that in 201, so the rust resistance of 304 is much better than that of 201.
Is 201 grade stainless steel food safe?
Today's steels are much more as several elements may be added to the alloy to enhance performance. Nickel and chromium are now used to make higher grade, safer steel for food products. The two most popular steels used in kitchen and drinkware are 201 and 304.
