Although rotational molding still represents a small fraction of the plastics industry, in recent years its many advantages have attracted increased attention from designers of plastic parts. For its typical applications, the rotomolding process is simple. A premeasured amount of resin -- typically polyethylene, but polycarbonate, nylon, polypropylene, and PVC are also commonly used -- is placed into a two-part mold. The mold is closed and begins to rotate on both the horizontal and vertical axes.
