Biodegradable plastic straws are also called PLA straws. The raw materials of these straws are made from vegetable starch and fat (usually corn). Since these straws are made from plants, most straws will decompose naturally in commercial composting facilities. Biodegradable straws are a great way to protect your teeth while protecting the environment. Thousands of straws are used every day all over the world. Replacing them with biodegradable straws can greatly reduce the amount of plastic in the environment.
The PLA “biodegradable” straw is positioned as a straw made of plants that can decompose in the environment. They are made from natural plant materials, such as renewable resources such as corn starch or sugar cane. PLA plastics are generally a better alternative than their close relatives (traditional petroleum-based plastics).
Advantage:
- Hold up the plastic straw.
- Has the same feeling as plastic.
- Mass production is easily available.
- Some PLA straws only take 2 to 3 months to decompose, while others take 6 months.
