Tetrapotassium Pyrophosphate is an inorganic substance with molecular formula of K₄P₂O₇ and molecular weight of 330.33. It is white powder, soluble in water and insoluble in ethanol. 
The main use of Tetrapotassium Pyrophosphate is to replace potassium cyanide for cyanide free electroplating. With the development of national industrial modernization, the demand forTetrapotassium Pyrophosphate is increasing day by day. In industry, it is also used for surface treatment, high-grade detergent, paint, detergent, dispersant, buffer, etc; In food industry, it is used as emulsifier, tissue modifier, chelating agent, quality improver, etc. 

Applications:

1. Electroplating grade tetrapotassium pyrophosphate(TKPP) is used in cyanide-free electroplating, as a complexing agent for electroplating, and also for surface treatment, i.e. as a pretreatment agent for electroplating and pyrophosphate plating solution.

2. Industrial grade tetrapotassium pyrophosphate(TKPP) is widely used in paint and coating, detergent, boiler descaling, oil well drilling, textile printing and dyeing auxiliaries, etc. In industry, it is used as high-grade detergent, cleaner, dispersant, buffer, etc. It is used as detergent component for preparing clothes, metal surface cleaner and bottle detergent component, additive for various cleaners, clay dispersant for ceramic industry, dispersant and buffer for pigment and dyestuff, bleaching and dyeing industry for removing a small amount of tri-potassium pyrophosphate from water. It is also used in the bleaching and dyeing industry to remove a small amount of trivalent iron ions from water and improve the quality of bleaching and dyeing.

3. Food grade tetrapotassium pyrophosphate (TKPP)is used as food additive, emulsifier, tissue improver, chelating agent, quality improver, etc. It is used in food industry as emulsifier, chelating agent, raw material of alkaline water agent for pasta products; to prevent discoloration of canned fruits; to improve the swelling of ice cream and the yield of ham and sausage; to enhance the water-holding capacity of fish, to improve the taste and yield of pasta, to prevent the aging of cheese, etc.
