Structured fillers are made from corrugated and textured metal plates. The inclined Angle of the corrugation of the adjacent plates is opposite to the vertical column axis, forming a mixing chamber at each point where the corrugation intersects. The result is a very open honeycomb structure with sloping flow channels, with a relatively high surface area but very low resistance to airflow. This structure ensures good and uniform wetting under low and high liquid loads. Tower operation under low liquid load requires specially designed dispensers to ensure adequate surface wetting.
