Principle

• p16 causes cell cycle arrest
• Ki-67 marks cell proliferation
• Simultaneous expression suggests a cell cycle disorder, a "carcinoma."

Easier to read

• p16 (Nuclear + Cytoplasm) Ki-67 (Nuclear)
• Clear color identification, independently on morphology to find "cancerous" cells
• A positive double stain indicates that the cervical cells are diseased.

Better specificity

• Specificity is better than HR-HPV by dual-staining

Higher sensitivity

• HPV-positive patients bypassed with higher sensitivity and specificity of p16/Ki-67 dual-staining cytology
