A new cerium-doped LaCl3(Ce) scintillator is evaluated with respect to the application in environmental gamma ray dosimetry and spectrometry. The scintillator is very attractive for gamma ray spectrometry in the case of high count rate, because it has excellent energy resolution and fast decay time.

2.The amplitude of signal is usually less than 1V in spectrum analysis.
3.The value is measured when detector preheated for 10 minutes, the counting rate within 1000, total counting number is less than 105 in Cs137 peak.
